The Sofianer comes to Terminal 2 of Vasil Levski Sofia Airport with an exhibition featuring a selection of artistic covers from the visual project dedicated to the Bulgarian capital.
Inspired by the iconic covers of The New Yorker and international initiatives such as The Parisianer, The Sofianer brings together 60 artists and 72 original covers, presenting Sofia through a variety of artistic perspectives.
The project looks beyond the cityβs familiar tourist landmarks to explore its character β its everyday life, people, urban stories, unusual situations, dreams and challenges. Through art, different creators share their personal stories about the city and raise questions about the Sofia we know today and the city we want it to become tomorrow.
As a partner of the project, SOF Connect is presenting a selection of the artworks at Vasil Levski Sofia Airport β a place that welcomes thousands of passengers every day and is often the first encounter with Sofia for visitors to the capital.
The exhibition can be visited at Terminal 2 until 4 September.
About The Sofianer
The Sofianer is a collaborative art project that invites artists from Bulgaria and around the world to create covers for The Sofianer. The initiative is inspired by the iconic visual identity of The New Yorker and the international movement that began with projects such as The Parisianer.
Similar initiatives have already brought Paris, Tokyo, Montreal, Brussels, Milan and Shanghai to life through the eyes of local artists and illustrators.
The Sofianer turns Sofia into a canvas for different stories, interpretations and perspectives β sometimes familiar, sometimes unexpected, but always connected to the spirit of the city.
